Short Vacation Timika - Tembagapura

I took some photos on my way back to Tembagapura after my very short vacation to Timika last week. I went down to Timika on Saturday morning by bus since I got the last chopper. Fyi, the first chopper flight at 7 and the weather of Tembagapura is so unpredictable, can be so shiny at 7 but can be foggy at several minutes later and no chopper flight. Alternative bus was offered at 9 for the last chopper passengers since the arrival time of the one who use the last chopper and the one who use bus will be the same. Fyi, chopper only take about 20 minutes flight from Tembagapura-Timika, or vice versa, but bus take about 3 hours. I decided to take bus after considering the weather changing and felt the sensation of going across the Papua rain forest.

I didn’t take much photos when I went down to Timika, I only took a picture of ice on top of the mountain that seen at check point Mile 50.

I arrived at Mozes Kilangin International Airport, Timika at 11.30 am. I went to the Kamoro Hotel to put my stuff before going around Timika. Fyi, the only public transportation from the airport is Ojek. At 12.00 am I decided to have lunch at KFC since I miss the taste of KFC sooo much. Then I went to my friend’s home at Kuala Kencana by taxi. Fyi (again), the transportation that called taxi is the old Kijang and there are 2 type of taxi, sharing (Rp. 7000) or charter (Rp. 30.000).

My friend took me back to hotel before we got dinner and karaoke together by her boyfriend’s car. I ate Konro Bakar at a restaurant and had karaoke at Diva Cafe. I went back to hotel at 10 pm.

On Sunday 4.30 am, I packed my stuff and prepared my self to go back to Tembagapura. The reason why I got ready that early was because I want to use the first flight chopper. Fyi, the chopper system at Tembagapura and airport at Timika is different. At Tembagapura, chopper system is based on priority, for bosses and listed on vacation employees, so whatever how early you come to check in chopper, if you’re not the priority you’ll get the last chopper. But at airport, the system is first come first served.

I didn’t do shopping when I was at Timika. Why did I take the short vacation? Because I need to refresh my self and get the information that I need for my vacation on October. Glad to see motor cycle, vehicle except Ford Escape and Toyota LWB, and people not wearing jacket. Hahaha

Kota ‘Baskom’???

Kota yang gw tinggalin saat ini untuk mencari sesuap nasi dan segenggam berlian untuk masa depan (alamak) bentuknya mirip baskom. Sebuah kota dengan fasilitas yang cukup modern tetapi dikelilingi bukit-bukit dengan pepohonan rimbun dan setiap hujan deras turun, akan tercipta puluhan air terjun baru yang sangat indah.

Kota ini terdiri dari beberapa area berdasarkan jaraknya dari portsite. Ada mil 28, 38, 66, 68, 72, 74 dan saya lupa lagi. Mil 28 dan 38 lebih dikenal dengan nama lowland di Timika, sedangkan mil 66 dst dikenal dengan nama highland di Tembagapura, karena letaknya > 2000 m dari permukaan laut dan punya temperatur rata-rata < 18 derajat celscius (kalau pagi suka keluar asap dari mulut dan hidung, dan sering turun kabut tebal). Area lowland merupakan daerah tempat tinggal dan kerja, sementara area highland daerah kerja dan tempat tinggal dipisahkan cukup jauh. Area 66, 68, dan 72 adalah daerah kerja, sementara area 74 dst adalah area kerja. Gw sendiri tinggal di mil 68 dan kerja di mil 74. Enaknya kerja di highland, gak peduli mau pakai baju apa buat kerja, kaos or kemeja gak jadi masalah, yang penting jaketnya. Saking dinginnya semua pekerja pasti pakai jaket, apalagi kalau sedang winter di Australia, hawa dinginnya berasa sampai di tempat kerja.

Fasilitas yang tersedia di daerah tempat tinggal, khusunya di mill 68 adalah barak, sharing house, rumah dan guest house; mess hall, supermarket, cafe, club, sporthall, sekolah, kantor kelurahan, kantor HRD, tempat training, perpustakaan, fitness center, gereja, masjid, aula, rumah sakit, helipad, dll. Air panas untuk mandi tersedia 24 jam non stop. Tapi kalau untuk sinyal provider, sayang sekali gw curiga gak 24 jam non stop (huuuuu….), kalau bisa sinyal dibeli, sudah habis persediaan sinyal dipasaran sama orang-orang yang tinggal disini.

Orang-orang yang biasa gw temuin disini bisa jadi dari sabang sampai merauke dan dari berbagai negara dengan budaya yang berbeda-beda. Tapi, bagaimana pun juga, dimana bumi dipijak disitu langit dijunjung. Semua orang harus bisa berbaur dengan budaya dan kebiasaan lokal, mau orang asli indonesia ataupun orang asing yang buleeee abis. Contoh, kebanyakan orang masyarakat asli masih suka membersihkan gigi dengan pinang dan jujur baunya agak gak enak dan mereka suka meludah sembarangan dengan warna ludah merah, it’s little bit disgusting, tapi kita harus terbiasa dengan itu semua. Selain itu, I don’t know why, they’re smelly, tapi ya tetap saja, kita harus bisa menerima itu. Dan gak sedikit lho orang bule2 yang bisa bahasa indonesia disini, bahkan dapat istri orang indonesia disini.

Miss this night city scene so much. That’s what I though after taking this picture on my way to airport, leaving the metropolitan city to the remote city far far away. Then after about 8 hours flight with 3 times transit, the scene become the jungle island.

I only see this scene on the way home after working and on the weekend, if I’m not too lazy go out from my room. LOL

Fortunately, I took this picture when the weather is good, sunshiny but still wet enough so it’s not dusty, it’s such a rare moment here since this area usually covered by thick fog or rain all day. Rain is awesome, it makes small waterfall become a huge waterfall. It feels like I’m living in somewhere like Amazon or living in Lost World.

Do I still think to miss the night city scene?? The answer is yes, I do. I miss the night scene since I have to get sleep before 10 o’clock every weekdays night and rain at night makes me lazier to hang out at night. hehe

Setelah hampir dua bulan hanya direncanakan, akhirnya pergi juga ke Signora Pasta. Ini rekomendasi dari teman yang baca di satu majalah Ibu-Ibu. Dari namanya udah ketauan lah ya, Restoran ini hanya menjual masakan Italia. Segala hidangan pasta dan pizza segala topping ada disana. Saya pesan Lasagna dan teman saya pesan Fusilli. Harganya standar, berkisar 25rb sampai 37rb untuk pasta. Untuk Pizza harganya diatas 40rb.

Seharusnya saya dan teman saya menghadiri acara di sebuah stasiun TV. Tetapi karena bosan menunggu, kami jalan-jaan di pinggir danau dan mencoba makanan di Kafe Korea yang baru buka. Balik ke gedung ternyata bis jemputan sudah jalan meninggalkan kami. Tanpa rasa menyesal, kami akhirnya piknik dipinggir danau dengan Korean Food (again). Yeay!!

Our food and drinks, Kimbab and Yuja Cha (Teh Jeruk) + Vanilla latte, and Me.

Bus that left us behind. Bye bye bus!!

Keesokan harinya, teman saya yang ikut dalam bis bercerita bahwa shooting acara baru dimulai jam 8.30 malam dan baru selesai jam 24.00. Padahal mereka berangkat ke stasiun TV sekitar jam 4.30 sore. WOW!!!

Suddenly Korea

The story began when I and my friend got unknown message about join an entrepreneur competition in my University. We only had to make a business plan proposal. So, I with my friend, call her Chiko, suddenly got exited to join. Our business plan is running mini Korean restaurant since on that time we were on fire for cooking any new recipe. We also called another friend, call her Iis, to make calculation for the financial feasibility of our proposal.

The deadline day was come, we submitted our proposal on the website, then we forgot everything about this competition. We even didn’t check the website until a shocking message came. The message said that our proposal was passed then we’d have an interview on a day after tomorrow at 1 pm and we had to bring our products sample. We so surprised got that message, we didn’t have any ready ingredients. I and Chiko went to Cengkareng then to Blok M to get the ingredients, while Iis went to the nearest supermarket and made a quetionaire.

The day had come, we cooked the sample in the morning. We made Kimbab, Tteokochi, Tteokbokki, and Ramyun. At 00.30 pm we had arrived on the building. We waited for a while, then the rescheduled of our interview announced (huuuu…), then we asked compensation and we did it. We had our interview on that day. Yeay!!

The interview last fast. The interviewer is a man, he liked our proposal and he said that it’s possible to be run. Due to the interviewer was sick, he didn’t eat our cooking. So we took home the samples and ate them on the lake side. We had small picnic there.
